This post is the sixth in a series that introduces some great TypePad features and offers tips on finding help with TypePad in general.

Colleen on Moblogging Options.

Q: What can you tell us about yourself?

Colleenicon Hi there, I'm Colleen. I've been working in TypePad support since March of 2005 and have been a subscriber since July of 2003. I have two TypePad blogs that I update regularly: Woops!, my primary blog and photos a go-go, where I share pictures of my friends and family. Blogging is a great way for me to keep up to date with friends and share fun tidbits I find around the internet.

Q: What tip will you be talking about today and why did you pick this?

I'll be talking about TypePad's moblogging features. Moblogging allows you to update your blog from any device that has email, including most mobile phones. It's a convenient way to share pictures and stories, even when you're on the road and away from a computer.

Q: How can I use moblogging to post from my phone or email?

Colleen_mmtscreenshot Have you ever snapped a really great picture with your phone and wished you could blog it immediately? Moblogging (mobile blogging) is a great tool that some users may not have discovered yet. Today, I'll be explaining the easy steps involved in configuring your mobile settings.

First, you'll specify where your emailed text and images should go. You can set a default weblog for your text Posts and a default weblog or Photo Album for images by going to your Control Panel > Profile > Mobile Settings. This is very handy if you've created a weblog just for showcasing images or a special Photo Album for an upcoming trip or event.

Next, you'll want to know where your emails are being sent from. Sometimes the actual "From" email address doesn't match the email address a service might give you. The easiest way to determine this is to send an email to yourself.

For example, if you're planning to email pictures from your phone to TypePad, you'd first send an email with attached images to a regular email account and check the email header. Some services use different email addresses when sending images versus just text, so it's a good idea to check both of these situations.

If you'll be sending your Posts from email addresses other than the one listed in your Profile, add these under "Indicate the email addresses you will be using." You can set up to five alternate email addresses here. With five options, plus the email address set in your Profile, you can blog from just about anywhere!

There are three options for sending your Posts to TypePad. It's easiest for most users to send to their Secret Email Address. With this method there isn't a confirmation message to reply to. Just add the address to your contacts, there's no need to type it out with each new Post! If you have a camera phone, you can snap your pic, compose the email, and Post the image to your weblog in mere seconds.

Personally, my favorite way to moblog is with Nokia's Lifeblog program. After entering my TypePad username and password, I was ready to post my images and video files to any of my TypePad weblogs. If you have a compatible Nokia phone, definitely give Lifeblog a try.

Chances are that if you don't have a camera phone now, you'll probably be getting one soon, so it's a good time to make yourself familiar with TypePad's super quick and easy moblogging features!
