Spam service update
December 19, 2007
Thank you for all of your comments letting us know that the spam service is being overaggressive in categorizing your blogs' comments as spam! This is great feedback. We’ve heard you and have made a change to the service that will help direct legitimate comments straight to your comments folder.
Still having trouble with real comments being treated as spam? Please let us know by filing a help ticket that includes the comment text. Each time you publish a legitimate message that’s found its way to the spam folder you help to teach TypePad what it should and shouldn’t treat as spam, but seeing the comments first hand helps us to learn right away what types of comments are being flagged falsely.
This is now a major problem: commenters who have been leaving comments regularly for over a year are now having all their comments held as spam. Could you inform us exactly what changes have been made to the spam filter? I have asked this several times now in a help ticket – why can’t someone reply?
Also, what problem, exactly, was supposed to be solved by this change to the spam filter? Since I disabled trackbacks and enabled CAPCHA, I’m getting probably one spam comment a month. Now I’m getting multiple comments marked and held as spam - every day. It’s beyond a joke. Visitors to my site are getting irritated, and so am I as I have to deal with all these queries and requests to release held comments.
In my view you need to un-install whatever changes you made to the spam filter to put it back the way it was before.
