Seeing An Increase In Spam?

Images Spam! No one likes it. We've heard reports of some people experiencing an uptick in spam as of late. If you're seeing spam comments, please make sure you're marking these comments as spam. Don't just delete them.

To mark a comment on TypePad as spam, click on the checkbox in your "list comments" section, and make sure you click "mark this comment as spam". This will ensure that this comment is flagged in our system, and we can better train our spam filters better as to how to block them from TypePad.

I'm seeing lots more spam in my spam box, not spam slipping by and coming to me via email. And it's all Russian. Any chance you could add a "Select All" button to the View Comments page? It would make it easier to delete 50 at a time.

Hi Karen - if you click the top checkbox, that should select all the comments in that row, I think?

D'oh! Thanks! :-)

D'oh! Thanks! :-)

I have another question for you. I have a widget installed that features my last 5 Twitter status updates in the sidebar of my blog. I'm wondering if there's a way to filter out the "@" tweets, which are of no interest to anyone but the person I'm replying to. That's how it works in Facebook -- the "@" tweets don't show up; just the regular ones.
Thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen - that's on the Twitter widget side. We could do some investigation to find you an alternate widget that's a little more sophisticated. Any ideas, everyone?

We started to see a problem in mid April. We have the CAPTCHA turned on but the spam managed to get past. Has anyone else noticed a spam bot getting past the CAPTCHA?
