This Week's Release: Design, Workflow, and Bug Fixes
July 10, 2009
Here's a few highlights from this week's release.
Add more awesome to your blog:
We've put together a great list of independent experts who can help make your blog design really sing. Check it out!
We're working on improving the new themes from Japan, too, and should have new widths available soon.
Thanks to some feedback we got in our Get Satisfaction forums, we added the ability for guest authors to schedule posts. This helps a ton of people who are publishing with multiple authors.
Another cool little easter-egg feature for those of us who manage a lot of posts: if you hover over the date that a scheduled post is supposed to go live, you can see the time it's going live, too.
Live Chat Pilot:
We're now offering our TypePad Business Class bloggers live chat support to help with billing and account issues. Learn more about how TypePad Business Class.
Other bug fixes:
Fixed reply by email issue with TypePad Connect.
Fixed posting bug in IE (object tags were getting messed up)
Fixed issues with trackbacks not getting sent at the right time
It's sad that you have tried to streamline and improve the posting experience, but you still haven't included a button to simply CENTER the photos! Wow.... how easy is that to figure out, and how long will it take for us NOT to have to use the lengthy code and go through all the trouble to attach it, just to center the picture??? PLEASE address this issue!

May I ask when you will have the facility to use icons for facebook, twitter, digg, technorati, and other such services rather than the text links only that are available through feedburner? I prefer a native solution rather than using feedburner or having to code it myself.

Don't you just hit "CENTER" on your form? That's what I do. Or am I misunderstanding your question.

Am I missing something? I see no changes when I sign in. Same old Dashboard. Same old Compose. Etc. Is this one of those "rolled out" changes that will take months to be fully delivered? Not that I have any negative feelings about the last roll out. ;-)

Hi David - great to hear from you! We're just getting ready to invite a few more folks to preview the new TypePad. We wanted to be sure we'd beta tested it first for an extended period of time.
I've gone ahead and given you the invite to Preview the new TypePad - you should see a link in the upper right hand corner of your dashboard.
Thanks for letting us know you wanted to check it out!

OK, so I put on my reading glasses and saw the "Try the new design (Preview)" Ignore my previous message. :-)

Trying out the new design ... way cooler.
Here's a couple of things I'm not sure if they are bugs or just me ...
The time stamp on my post seems to be showing GMT - has not been corrected for the time zone I am in.
When making corrections to an already published post - and also for a page - re-Publishing the post/page would result in me having to sign back in, the Compose page would re-appear, but the changes would be lost. It reminds me of timing out when I take too long composing web mail, but I'm not sure if that is the issue here.
BTW: Thanks for the opportunity for Previewing

Perhaps I am blind, but I clicked through using the invite and I see nothing new or different. No preview button.
Advise.

I also received an email invite but the links for the video tour and "take me to the new Typepad" just take me to my dashboard. Nor do I see any "try new design" link there.

I received the email invitation as well but there is no "try new design" anywhere on the page.
Posted by: Michael Bedard | July 14, 2009 at 08:53 PM
I received the very nice invite, but when I click on the link for the video, it takes me to my TypePad home page, where I don't see a video OR anything different. What gives? When I click on "feedback," it tells me my opinion won't register because it's a "test" survey. Very frustrating.

give it a try now, and see if you've got your invite!
Posted by: Ginevra | July 14, 2009 at 09:30 PM
I've got the new design now. Thanks! I'll try it out and post a comment when I'm done.
Posted by: Michael Bedard | July 14, 2009 at 09:32 PM
Hi Donna - go ahead and try it out now - when you log into TypePad, there should be a big "Preview the new TypePad" link in the top right hand corner so that you can give it a whirl. I'm so curious to know what you think!
Posted by: Ginevra | July 14, 2009 at 09:32 PM
thanks for letting us know - go ahead and give it a peek now, your invite should be there in the top right hand corner.
Posted by: Ginevra | July 14, 2009 at 09:34 PM
Thanks. I see it now. Will check it out tomorrow. I did start the video, but it's really tiny. Can't read stuff on the screens. I'm sure it's all great. I look forward to trying it out.Thanks for the quick reply. I know you're listening. ;-)
Cheers,

I got a link to the "new" TyepPad...and I'm taken to the old Dashboard. Yet *another* TypePad bug?

Thanks so much. Ill be trying it out and will post my feedback.

How do I try the new type pad?
Posted by: Ms. Baltimore | July 15, 2009 at 02:48 PM
I've gone ahead and set you up with an invite to the new TypePad. For the "center" button, simply click on the same button you'd use to center text - that should work like a dream! :D

.hmmessage P
{
margin:0px;
padding:0px
}
body.hmmessage
{
font-size: 10pt;
font-family:Verdana
}
That's what I've come to be told...that some people don't have that center button. I think you are missing something and I'm wondering what is going on!
